CAPA Action Report Bayshore CRA Property Status The public-invited Round 2 of the inquiry by the CRA Advisory Board will be 5pm on October 19. Of the three proposals two include a substantial cultural element. The third proposal provides only rental property and a commercial strip. CAPA’s new home office This report is Issue One of the seventh year we’ve published it – every Sunday evening. It’s fitting that we celebrate that anniversary with a freshly decorated new home office! The physical move will be Tuesday, but CAPA Director and Board Secretary, Dwight Richardson (never misses a ceremony) accepted the keys to 213 Airport Pulling Road South on Friday. Richard Curry, landlord representative presented the keys at the front door. The property, at Commerce Centers of Naples is owned by the same folks who own the adjacent Kia dealership. The building that housed our prior address will soon be razed to make way for expansion of that dealership. We are fortunate that we were able to extend our great relationship with the owners and especially Mr. Curry. The next move for CAPA, we hope, will be to an office in a new visual and performing arts center in the Bayshore … Read more! “Classic Jazz Inspiration” (Save the date: December 2) Displaying strong gospel, blues, and soul influences, this group plays the music of Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson, and Cannonbll Adderley. This high-energy jazz sextet combines four horns (two saxes, trombone, and trumpet), bass, and drums. The sextet plans to do only a few concert type appearances this coming season and, Dan Heck says, “CAPA is the perfect venue/audience type for what we will be presenting. A few weeks ago, we previewed two innovative Spectrum Programs: “From Paganini to Piazzolla” – A first for the Spectrum Series – the pairing of violin and classical guitar. Marco Sartor, classical guitarist, is a first-time Spectrum musician. Marco completed the highly selective Master of Musical Arts program (Doctoral Residency) at Yale. He also received degrees from the College of Charleston and Carnegie Mellon University. Daniela Shtereva, violinist, is a frequent Spectrum performer. Born in Bulgaria into a family with a five generation musical tradition, Daniela has been full-time with the Naples Philharmonic since 2008.
