An idea proposed by Mary Bowden and Catherine Lan after the wonderful CAPA performance they did – with David Dash – as Chrysalis on March 25, 2016, this year, we present “A Musical Valentine from Two Musical Couples” featuring Mary Bowden and husband, David Dash, on trumpets, and Catherine Lan and husband, Tao Lin, on piano.
David Dash, Assistant Principal trumpet of the Naples Philharmonic and a member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, he was part of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. David has also performed as a soloist with the Naples Philharmonic, Naples Orchestra and Chorus, Naples Concert Band. David has recorded for Koch International, Albany Records, the Santa Fe Opera, and “The President’s Own”.
Mary Elizabeth Bowden, classical trumpet soloist and Yamaha Performing Artist, has released her debut album “Radiance” on Summit Records featuring new American works. Bowden frequently performs with Seraph Brass and at the Marlboro Music Festival. Mary is currently Principal Trumpet of the Sarasota Opera Orchestra and the Artosphere Festival Orchestra. She has served as Principal Trumpet of New Zealand’s Auckland Philharmonia, and the Daejeon Philharmonic in Korea.
Dr. Catherine Lan has appeared as soloist with many US and Canadian symphonies and has collaborated with Naples Philharmonic and Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia Chamber Players. Currently on faculty at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Broward College, Dr. Lan also performs with Chrysalis Chamber Players, Palm Beach Symphony, and Atlantic Classical Orchestra.
Tao Lin, born into a musical family in Shanghai, performed as a teenager in the Chinese premiere of Bartok’s Sonata for two Pianos and Percussion. As a soloist, Lin has performed with Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony, Miami Chamber Orchestra, and the Knoxville Civic Orchestra. As a recitalist, he has performed at the Kennedy Center, Chautauqua Institute, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Minnesota Orchestra Hall, Izumi Hall (Osaka, Japan), and Edvard Grieg Museum in Norway.
