Thursday, May 21st, Collier County Commissioner Donna Fiala was f.ted at the grand opening of a fully equipped Community Center named for her –- the Donna Fiala Community Center at Eagle Lakes in East Naples.
She explained The Eagle Lake Community Park had been the last and only Collier County community park without a community center. It has taken her eighteen years to see this accomplished for East Naples, where it is the only community center in the area.
The 11,558 square-foot, building includes fitness rooms, locker rooms, a game room and an early childhood education center. Fiala sees a need for the center to expand because of local demand, suggesting that an aquatics center could eventually be in the works.
The Ribbon cutting was attended by all five of Fiala’s children, fellow Commissioner Penny Taylor and many other county notables. A school chorus from Parkside Elementary School and the Lely High School Drum Line joined in providing entertainment for the event.
The Community Center will have VPK through the fall and summer camps for young children. Children’s Zumba classes, fitness programs, gym memberships, cooking classes, yoga and wellness services are also available.
Park hours are daily from 8 a.m. until dusk. Fitness center hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays. The community center hours are from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
